San Juan Alanis is Managing Partner for the Houston-based public relations firm Big Oak Tree Media, and Chief Content Officer for the creative agency Market Street Consultants. A former print news writer, San Juan is also a podcaster and digital content creator. His career spans over 18 years from his days as an award-winning print journalist with the Houston Chronicle and various other publications in English and Spanish in the United States, to several stints as a spokesperson for organizations such as the Houston Airport System and The Salvation Army Greater Houston Area Command.
He founded the award-winning blog Juan of Words in 2010, and entered the digital agency environment shortly after at Lopez Negrete Communications – the largest Hispanic-owned advertising firm in the United States, before being recruited to FleishmanHillard in Houston. In 2016, he co-founded Big Oak Tree Media, which last year was awarded Small PR Agency of the Year by PRSA Houston.
San Juan has worked with various blue chip brands including Walmart, AT&T, Samsung, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas.
